Christ Jesus Came to Save Sinners
12 I give thanks him x who has given me strength , Christ Jesus our Lord , because he judged me faithful , y appointing me to his service , 13 though formerly I was a blasphemer , z persecutor , and insolent opponent . Only a I received mercy b because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief , 14 and c the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the d faith and love that are in Christ Jesus . 15 The saying is e trustworthy and deserving of total acceptance , that Christ Jesus f came into the world to save sinners , g of whom I am the foremost . sixteen Just I received mercy for this reason , that in me , equally the foremost , Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life . 17 To h the King of the ages , i immortal , j invisible , k the only God , 50 be honor and glory forever and ever . 4 Amen .

Qualifications for Overseers
3 The saying is v trustworthy : If anyone aspires to w the office of overseer , he desires a noble chore . 2 Therefore x an overseer i must be in a higher place reproach , y the husband of one wife , 2 z sober-minded , cocky-controlled , respectable , a hospitable , b able to teach , 3 not a drunkard , non violent merely c gentle , not quarrelsome , d non a lover of coin . 4 He must manage his own household well , with all dignity e keeping his children submissive , 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household , how will he care for westward God'south church ? 6 He must not be a recent convert , or he may f become puffed upward with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil . 7 Moreover , he must be well idea of by g outsiders , so that he may not autumn into disgrace , into h a snare of the devil .
Qualifications for Deacons
8 i Deacons likewise must be dignified , not double-tongued , three j not addicted to much wine , one thousand not greedy for quack gain . 9 They must 50 hold the mystery of the faith with m a articulate censor . 10 And n permit them likewise be tested get-go ; and then let them serve as deacons if they testify themselves clean-living . 11 o Their wives likewise iv must be dignified , not slanderers , simply sober-minded , p faithful in all things . 12 Permit deacons each be q the husband of one wife , q managing their children and their ain households well . 13 For r those who serve well as deacons proceeds a good continuing for themselves and also corking confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus .
The Mystery of Godliness
