Unused Defeat Portraits
Ryo and Robert take defeat portraits with their alternating colors. Since defeat portraits are just shown if a character loses in 1P style (exist it histrion or CPU) and alternating colors are merely available for P2 in VS mode, these are impossible to be seen in the normal game.
To see them in-game, enter Pro Action Replay (PAR) code FF9030:0010 in the Kega Fusion emulator - the only one where it works - and enable it right after you select your grapheme (if you lot enable the code before this, you lot will be stuck in the thespian select screen).
Cheats
Yous must enter these on the Sega screen quickly, equally if barely letting go of the buttons in between presses. I believe you also have to start as soon as the Sega logo starts fading into view; I'm not entirely sure about that. If done correctly, you should hear a chime.
2P Options Screen Earlier Battle

Once this code is entered, beginning a two-role player game and have both players select their characters. One time the characters are selected, hold Commencement on both controllers at the same time during the transition to the crimson boxing start screen. If done correctly, you should exist taken to the Options screen, where you tin configure the boxing options.
Some of the options are slightly different.

Level Select
- JP/EU: Upward Right Down Left Upward Right Downwardly Left A B C
- US: Left Right Left Right C B (alternately, use Game Genie lawmaking AAHT-AN3J )
With this lawmaking, starting a one Player game will permit y'all choose which level to start with. Yous can as well choose to commencement on a cutscene, the bonus stage, or the ending. You will still need to choose a character after choosing your level.

Staff Gyre Regional Differences and Alternating Names
The game'south staff roll has been altered heavily between regions.
In addition, on all regions, satisfying some condition while the staff roll runs will cause some of the names to change.

No, yous're non reading that wrong: the last cavalcade makes no changes this time. "STAR Light"'s name was removed, and that was the but one in the JP version that had the effect (and no new names were given the issue). The replacement "STAR LIGHT ♡" string is still present in the US ROM, at $20E5E .
